COVID-19 Information

September 14, 2020

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

As you may be aware of the current Mandate issued by Governor Evers will be over as of Saturday, September 26.  In order to be prepared and realizing the need for “easing” back into a sense of “normal,” the Elders in conjunction with Pastors Schroeder and Fitch in their meeting held on Tuesday, September 8, has made the following decision:

Beginning the weekend of September 26 & 27…

  • Masks will be mandatory for the Saturday evening service.
  • Masks will be highly encouraged for the Sunday 8:00 A.M. service
  • Masks will be optional for the Sunday, 10:45 A.M. service.
  • Masks and Social-Distancing will still be practiced in the “common areas” ie. the narthex.
  • Social-Distancing will still be practiced in the sanctuary.
  • Holy Communion will still be practiced in the manner of which it has been offered since we re-opened.  Pastor(s) and assistants will be masked when distributing the sacrament in all services.
  • The Common Cup and “communing at the rail” is still postponed.
  • Hymnals, Pew Bibles and Attendance Cards will, in the near future, be returning.  The “spritz” that is used causes damage to any paper products.
  • Worship (10:45 A.M.) will be available via:
  • “live-stream” on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/peaceneenah
  • Recording posted on the website. (https://www.peaceneenah.com/service-video ) - Generally posted on Mondays
  • Those involved in the Sunday school ministry – teachers, staff and students – will wear masks.  (We will be following the practices of the Neenah School District.)
  • Children 5 years and younger are not required to wear masks.
  • Boards, committees and groups will be able to determine the wearing of masks as they see fit.
  • All other practices that have been put in place will remain during the week.

It is the intent of the Elders and Pastors that we make steady progress in returning to the way things were prior to the outbreak in early March.

The Elders will be evaluating and implementing changes in their meetings on a monthly basis.  Overall, it is the intent that worship and ministry at Peace will be as safe as possible, meeting the various concerns of our membership. Further updates will be shared with you so that you might be kept informed.  If you are not receiving these updates via e-mail, and so desire as to assist in off-setting the cost of postage, please contact Grace in the church office.

The Elders and pastors invite the membership to return back to the worship and ministries of the congregation.  Your input is desired.  Please contact your elder and express your suggestions as we move forward.  As stated above, the intent is to get back to where we were prior to the outbreak of COVID-19.

In His Service,

The Elders and Pastors Schroeder and Fitch

ADDENDUM

Friday, August 7, 2020

On Tuesday, August 4, in a Special Meeting requested by the Elders, the Elders met in consultation with the pastors to review the letter that was sent to the congregation regarding various topics concerning the Order that was issued by Governor Evers.  The following decisions were made:

  1. Masks will be worn in all worship services and in the building at all times.
  2. The pastors, the administrative assistant, and other office volunteers, when working in their respective offices, do not need to wear a mask unless there are guests in the office.
  3. Masks are optional for the organists and other musicians as they are set far enough apart from the congregation.
  4. Solos, Duets, and other special music offerings will be reinstated.  Masks will not be required as measures will be taken to respect social distancing.
  5. Coffee Fellowship will be reinstated with strong encouragement that those who choose to partake will practice social distancing.

Members are encouraged to share any concerns with their Elder or their pastor.  (Members can find out who their Elder is by simply looking in the Directory.  The Elder groups are identified by the first letter of their last name.)

The Elders will, in their respective meetings, evaluate procedures and will make adjustments as are deemed warranted.

July 31, 2020

Dear Members of Peace Lutheran Church,

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

As you may be aware, Governor Evers has issued an Order that mandates the wearing of masks by all individuals except those 5 years old and younger in all public gatherings / settings.  Our District President, The Reverend Doctor John Wille, has encouraged compliance by the congregations of the South Wisconsin District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Pastor Fitch and I have discussed the matter at hand and have determined, for the health and welfare of the congregation, the following will be set in place immediately until the Order has been vacated:

Masks will be worn by all individuals (except those 5 years old and younger per the Order) while in the church and sanctuary.  Masks are to be worn in the sanctuary while worshipping except for the reception of Holy Communion.

  • Only the worship leader will be un-masked while in the chancel. Organist(s) will be required to wear masks throughout the service.
  • Singing will be limited (the number of verses).
  • There will be no vocalist(s).  This will include solos, duets, choirs, etc.  Instrumental music will be allowed as long as masks are worn.
  • Live-Streaming of our worship service will continue, as well as the recording and posting of the sermons.
  • Coffee fellowship will again be suspended.
  • Sunday Morning Bible Class will still meet with all participants wearing their masks.
  • All other practices that have been implemented will remain in place.

In reference to the “business week”:

Masks will be worn while in the building.  This includes the pastors and administrative assistant.

  • If you have no need to be in the office or building, please do not come.
  • If you need to come to the office, please call ahead so that we know you are coming.
  • If you are going to need to meet in the building, you are to call ahead so that we know who is in the building.
  • All other practices that have been implemented will remain in place.

Boards, Committees, Council Meetings:

These meetings can still take place “in person” as long as masks and social distancing is honored.

  • All other practices that have been implemented will remain in place.

Resumption of our Fall Ministries:

The respective Boards will review what format will be implemented in reference to Sunday School, Youth Confirmation and other Midweek Bible classes.  Watch the Bulletin News and Newsletter articles as information will be shared as decisions are made.

We realize that there are many “opinions” that individuals may have concerning the issue of wearing masks.  As has been shared in the past, though we have Christian Freedom, we yield to the health and welfare of the whole.  In essence, we practice, “Love Your Neighbor”.

As we move forward, the leadership of the congregation will continue to evaluate and implement as what seems best for the sake of our Lord’s Kingdom Work and of our congregation.

Finally…  Pray! Pray!!  Pray!!!  Pray that this effort will bring glory to our Lord and Savior and that we can still assemble to be served by our Gracious Lord and to serve Him as well.

In His service,

Pastor Schroeder and Pastor Fitch

PROCEDURES FOR “REOPENING” THE CHURCH

MAY 26, 2020

Introduction

These procedures are being offered for the safety of the congregation as we “reopen” the church. These procedures have been shared with the Elders. They will be evaluated monthly to determine what may need to be added or subtracted.

We are planning to resume worship on the weekend of May 30 & 31. Please be advised that if there are any changes in the State or Winnebago County, we will have to determine another plan of action.

SAFETY is the emphasis. Though we have Christian Freedom, regard must be given to fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as those who may visit. Despite one’s personal viewpoint, safety is the responsibility of the whole for the sake of the whole.

IF YOU ARE ILL, please, for the sake of all, stay home. Worship services will continue to be available, as has been the case for the last several weeks. Arrangements for Homebound Communion can be made by contacting the church office.

SOCIAL DISTANCING is the key concept in the procedures. Recommended is “6 feet” to be allowed for the safety of all. Understandably, though this is the rule, there are at times that it may have to be trespassed. Each person is requested to respect each other’s space. THEREFORE, there will be no handshaking or hugging. This is contrary to our normal custom but is necessary for the benefit of all.

Preparation

Prior to being reopened, the whole of the building will be cleaned using recommended products for the best result. Following each use of spaces in the building sanitizing will take place. Therefore, we are going to be good stewards and not “wander” through the building for the sake of wandering. Please respect and follow the signs on the doors of rooms that have not been properly cleaned.

When Entering the Building

Hand Sanitizer: Hand sanitizer will be found in the narthex and other locations for easy access. Parishioners are encouraged to access when entering and following worship.

Concerning Masks: Masks are encouraged, but not required. Masks will not be provided by the church. Persons must provide their own.

Greeters: Such individuals may be deployed but will not have any personal touch with those they are greeting.

 Concerning Worship

Bulletins & Weekly Announcements: These will be distributed by the ushers who will have gloves on their hands to avoid any physical contact. Bulletins are for one-time use only. Bulletin Announcements, including the Weekly Calendar, will be on a separate sheet of paper inserted in your bulletins. If you are not taking them home, they are to be placed in the blue recycle bins.

Offerings: Offering plates will be placed at the entrances of the sanctuary as you enter for worship. The Offerings will be presented during the service to be placed on the Altar.

Seating: We will be using every other pew. Blue tabs will mark the pews/chairs not to be used. Families (households) are allowed to sit in groups. All others are asked to respect space between individuals/family groupings.

Church Attendance/Communion Attendance: This is being set aside. This is to avoid any problems from handling by many people.

Hymnals/Pew Bibles / Song Books: As the whole service will be printed out, there is no need to access them. They have been removed for the time being.

Concerning Holy Communion: The Common Cup will be suspended until it is deemed to be safe. “Pass-by” will be the method of distribution. Instructions concerning the procedure will be given at the time of distribution. The Sacrament will be brought to the pews as has been our custom. A Blessing will be spoken after all have communed.

Following Worship

Coffee (& Food) Fellowship:  At this time, it is suspended.

Scrip Sales: Scrip will be available with care for the least amount of personal touch (contact).

In Conclusion…

These procedures are meant for the sake of safety for all. Again, there will be an evaluation on a monthly basis by the Elders and Council. Please feel free to pass on any other suggestions to be considered.

Thank you!

Peace be with you!

First from the Word of God… Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Weeks ago, we began a "fast." No longer could we gather in God's House. By His Word and baptismal grace, He brought us through! I started our trek with this passage. Today, we can celebrate!

Re-Opening the Church: AT THIS TIME, it is the plan to re-open for in-person worship on the weekend of

May 30 & 31. Procedures for re-opening are attached with this e-mail. Please understand that this is still "fluid." We will keep you informed. Pray that this might become a reality with no more delays.

Update on the Divine Call to Rev. Josiah Fitch: Pastor Fitch is with us for the next few days. He will be departing on Friday, May 29th. He will return to his home to continue to prepare for his move. There will not be a congregational "Meet & Greet" at this time. If all goes well, his family will be moving this way after June 14. Installation is at this time scheduled for Sunday, June 28, at 3:00 P.M. More details will be shared as they are available. Please pray for a safe transition for Pastor and his family.

Church Office: Beginning this week, the office will again be open on Fridays from 8:30-11:30 A.M. Because we are still being very cautious, please call ahead. If you do not need to come in, please don't. This is for your good as well as ours.

Hospital Visits: I have been able to make hospital visits on a case by case visit. If you are hospitalized, let the church office know, and I will attempt to visit you either personally or by phone.

Homebound Visits: I will resume these visits in June. As for those in nursing homes or assisted living facilities, I will visit as soon as restrictions have been lifted.

June 2020 Newsletter: There will be a June Newsletter published. They will be distributed in the usual manner.  The newsletter will cover several topics/activities for June.

Workday: Thank you to all who assisted in the preparation of our facility last Saturday.

Church Directory: The Directory will be placed in mailboxes at the end of May / early June. Pastor will deliver copies to the homebound in June.

May the Lord richly bless us as we cautiously look to re-opening.

Pastor Schroeder

Christ is Risen!  He is Risen indeed!!  Alleluia!!!

First from the Word of God… Psalm 91

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place the Most High, who is my refuge 10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. 12 On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. 14 "Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. 15 When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."

Christ is Risen!  He is Risen indeed!!  Alleluia!!!

First from the Word of God… Psalm 139:1-18, 23-24

O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, "Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night," 12 even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. 13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Thank you…Thank you to Brian Hallman, who recruited voices from the choir to record hymns for most of the worship services in May. Thank you to Janelle Bonson for accompanying them with the organ. Also, thanks to Grace and Kathy Ehlert for their work behind the scenes to provide the lyrics and help in getting the worship services recorded. A huge thank you to those who have brought in groceries for the Food Pantry and those who have shared financial support as well. This is a good work that brings glory and honor to our Lord.

Christ is Risen! He is Risen indeed!! Alleluia!!!

First from the Word of God… Psalm 116

I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. Then I called on the name of the Lord: "O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!" Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful. The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me. Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling; I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living. 10 I believed, even when I spoke: "I am greatly afflicted"; 11 I said in my alarm, "All mankind are liars." 12 What shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits to me? 13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord, 14 I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people. 15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. 16 O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant. You have loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord. 18 I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people, 19 in the courts of the house of the Lord, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!

Christ is Risen!  He is Risen indeed!!  Alleluia!!!,

I'm very nervous about sending out this letter as it seems every time, I put something in print, things change. Below you will find many things that are simply repeated. However, some items are new towards the end.

First from the Word of God…  Romans 5:1-11

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die  but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Thank you to those who have contacted Grace and are now receiving this letter via e-mail. If you are willing to receive these updates via e-mail as an attachment, please contact Grace by e-mail at admin@peaceneenah.com, and she will remove you from the snail-mail list. My next letter will come out when we are ready to get back in the saddle and return to what was once "normal."

Worship services until further notice is canceled! Worship services will be an audio file on our website.  Sunday Worship will be a video file also accessible on our website. Here are some brief instructions for you to follow to access these resources. This link will get you straight to the sermons: https://peaceneenahlcms.360unite.com/sermons

The Sacrament of Holy Communion: I will continue to hold to our Theology and Practice and not be offering the Sacrament at this time. I am confident that this troubling time will come to an end soon and will, with you, wait until we are again in God's House and receive the Sacrament. I wait eagerly for that day.

The Means of Grace. Just as the Sacrament of Holy Communion is a Means of Grace, so also is the Word of God and Baptism. Engage the Word of God with daily reading. Also, remember your baptism and the daily grace it offers to you. It is the Word of God and Holy Baptism that brings you into a relationship with Almighty God and sustains you. Daily we can drown the Old Adam and be raised up in Holy Absolution – the forgiveness of sins. Cling to the Words and Promises of God as we anticipate celebrating His Holy Sacrament of Holy Communion in His House.

Offerings. Thank you to those who have mailed their offerings. The ministry still must go on, and your faithfulness is allowing this to happen.

Given the "Stay at Home" Order issued today by Governor Evers, our sanctuary will not be available for prayer. This is to safeguard all of us and our neighbor (Fifth Commandment) and in obedience to authority (Fourth Commandment).

ALL activities at the church are canceled, including all Board meetings.

Hospital and Homebound Visits will not be taking place. I will resume these ministries as soon as restrictions have been lifted.

Be aware that there are a number of new scams.  One of the latest that has appeared is groups who will tell you that they can expedite your stimulus check. There is no such group. Only the IRS is handling the process. Be very careful. Do not share any personal information over the phone unless you know who you are speaking with. All Federal Agencies communicate by mail. I have already received a couple of suspicious phone calls.

The Church Office is, at this time, going to be open. Before you come to the office, please call ahead.  If you do not need to come in, please don't. This is for your good as well as ours. The office will be closed on Fridays until further notice. I will be checking my voicemail on Fridays once in the morning and again in the mid-afternoon.

If you need assistance, please contact the church office. If there is no answer, leave a message on my voicemail. I do not have access to Grace's voicemail. I/we will be in contact with you and do all that might be possible to assist you.

Newsletter: At this time there will not be a May newsletter per say, but information will be in the bulletin news. With things changing as soon as we put things in print it is easier this way. Hoping to get a paper copy out for June.

Youth Confirmation.  At this time, it is my plan to have Youth Confirmation on Sunday, May 17th.  However, this may change.  I have chosen Sunday, June 7th as an alternate date.

Workday. As soon as we are freed to come back and worship in the House of our Lord, there will be a need for a "full cleaning" of the facility. This will take many volunteers to accomplish. Watch for information about be prepared to come and lend a hand.

Thank you… to Rob Ertl and others who have offered their time and talent in cleaning up the churchyard. …to all those who have been working with me to supply the best service to you... for the encouragement that has come from you via phone and e-mail supporting the efforts of Grace and myself… to the Social Ministry Board and Rob Ertl in mobilizing volunteers to assist our homebound and others that have been identified as perhaps needing assistance. May the Lord bless your continued service to His honor and glory.

In general, take care of your family and extended as well. If you are able, check on your neighbors, especially the elderly. Please encourage one another via phone, etc.

Update on Amy Formella: Amy is now state side. This decision was made Lutheran Bible Translators for health safety. Please pray for her that she might be able to return to Sierra Leone to continue her work amongst God’s people there.

Update on the Divine Call to Rev. Josiah Fitch. I am in contact with Pastor Fitch. He has given a questionnaire to the Council and Elders to answer. This is in process. We are still hoping for a visit to be arranged. In the interim, a video of our facility and community is being prepared to be forwarded to him next week. Please continue to pray for the Lord's guidance as he deliberates the Call that we have extended to him.  Updates will be shared with you as they develop.

Pray that this will soon be past, and we will be able to return to what we have so much enjoyed. God be with you… An update will be sent following Easter to those who do not have e-mails.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

First from the Word of God…Romans 8:31-39

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?33 Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.  34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died more than that, who was raised who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, "For your sake, we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered." 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Some items of interest…

As was shared with you last week, there will be no Newsletter for April. Thank you to those who have contacted Grace and are now receiving this letter via email. If you are willing to receive these updates via email as an attachment, please contact Grace by email at admin@peaceneenah.com, and she will remove you from the snail-mail list. My next letter will not be sent out until after Easter as there really will not be a need until then.

Worship services for the balance of this month or until further notice are canceled! Worship services will be an audio file on our website. Sunday Worship will be a video file also accessible on our website. Here are some brief instructions for you to follow to access these resources. Holy Week services and an Easter Sunday service will be available.

In reference to the Sacrament of Holy Communion: I am going to hold to our Theology and Practice and not be offering the Sacrament at this time. I am confident that this troubling time will come to an end soon and will, with you, wait until we are again in God's House and receive the Sacrament. I wait eagerly for that day.

OF EXTREME IMPORTANCE On Tuesday, April 7, our facility will be serving as a polling place. The city has graciously volunteered to "sanitize" the portion of the facility following the close of polling. As a result, the Church Office will be closed. This is to safeguard Grace and myself from any undue exposure. I will be checking in in the afternoon for messages on my voicemail. Grace will be working from home.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This morning when I came into my office, I immediately checked my voicemail.  My heart was touch when I heard the voice of one of our homebound here at Peace.  She just wanted me to know that she was praying for the congregation and me.  What a wonderful activity to be engaged in! I did call her and thanked her, as well as inquired about her well-being.

First from the Word of God…  Psalm 27 (selected verses)

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?...  One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.  For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock…..  Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me!  You have said, “Seek my face.”  My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”  Hide not your face from me.  Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help.  Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation!...  13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!  14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!

Some items of interest…

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Just a quick note…

First from the Word of God… Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the hills.  From where does my help come?  My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.  He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.  Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.  The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand.  The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.  The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Some items of interest…

Not everyone has access to e-mail or the internet.  So, if you know that there is someone who does not have access, simply give them a phone call to share information.

Worship resources are being posted.  Already last night’s Midweek Lenten message was recorded and posted.  It is hoped that this will be able to continue.  In working with Trinity, Oshkosh, and making use of their equipment, Praise Band, etc. we may also have a video format of the worship services posted on our website.

If you are willing to assist in delivering resources to members in need, please contact the church office, and it will be forwarded to the Social Ministry Board.

If you are in need of assistance, please contact the church office.  If there is no answer, leave a message on my voicemail.  I will be in and out throughout the weekend and will check.  I do not have access to Grace’s voicemail.  I/we will be in contact with you and do all that might be possible to assist you.

ADDRESS TO THE CONGREGATION RESPONDING TO THE PANDEMIC

UPDATE: MARCH 17, 2020

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Indeed, you are aware of the Pandemic that is facing our nation. Members of the Elders and Church Council met with pastor on Tuesday, March 17, to determine how to address the issue for the sake of the congregation.

There have been many changes over the last few days that have prompted additional action.

After the discussion, we have come to the following…

Word and Sacrament Ministry - Worship (Midweek & Weekend Services) is canceled until further notice.

  • Sunday School & Bible Classes - For the next four weeks, Sunday School and Bible Classes will be suspended. These ministries will resume on Sunday,
  • April 19. This includes Sunday morning, Thursday morning, and Saturday morning. Home Bible studies can meet as the various groups determine for themselves.
  • Youth Confirmation Classes - These classes will be suspended and prayerfully will resume on Wednesday, April 15. Pastor will send a revised schedule to parents.
  • Homebound Communions - These will be suspended for March. This is to prevent the inadvertent transferring of any risk.
  • Hospital Visits - At this time, clergy are not allowed in the hospitals unless in an “end of life” situation. However, please contact the church office so that the pastor can be in contact with you via the phone and that prayers can be offered up on your behalf.
  • Commitment Weekend 2020 – Commitment Weekend will be postponed to a later date. Please, if you have not turned in your commitments of time, talent and treasure, hold on to them.
  • Spring Cleaning - This is scheduled for March 28/29 will be postponed.
  • Board and Committee Meetings - These meetings will continue as scheduled.
  • All Other Activities - Cancelled until further notice.
  • The Church Office -The Church Office will remain open for its regular hours. The Church Office will be closed on Friday, March 20, 2020.
  • Prayer Time - The Sanctuary will be available during regular office hours for members to come in and pray. We will only be able to allow for 10 persons at a time despite the size of our sanctuary.
  • Worship Resources - Pastor Schroeder will be providing recorded sermons and will be made available via the same resource as the video recordings. Other resources will be put on the Website (i.e., Lutheran Hour Devotions, etc.).
  • Caring for Our Membership – If you are willing to assist members who may need help during this time, please contact the church office, and your name will be forwarded to the Social Ministry Board. If you are unable to get out and need assistance, please contact the church office, and your request will be forwarded to the Social Ministry Board.

These steps are being implemented to help curb the Pandemic. We are also doing what is only right in following the mandates of the Federal and State governments. There can be negative consequences for non-compliance, including fines or imprisonment or both. The Fourth Commandment instructs that we should obey authorities, and we also recognize that the government is an agent of God for our own good. (Romans 13:1-7)

The Elders and Council will be meeting on Tuesday, March 31, to assess the situation. Following their meeting, an update will be presented to the congregation.

Members…During this time, it is hoped that you will continue your financial support so that the ministry might continue. You can either send or bring your offering to the church office. If you are interested in signing up for Electronic Giving, please contact

Gregg Schuchhardt at 920.737.2844.

In all of this, let us pray to Almighty God that He will bring this Pandemic to its end and that many might be spared from its effects.

The words of St. Paul, from Philippians 4:4-7…

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

And, finally, the inspired words of David from Psalm 46…

“God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Come, behold the works of the Lord, how he has brought desolations on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. 10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” 11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Thank you!
